A tropical low (01U) may develop southwest of Sumatra in the Indian Ocean this week.
It is forecast to slowly develop, with the risk of becoming a tropical cyclone increasing to moderate over the weekend.
The low may move into the far northwest corner of the Australian Area of Responsibility by later Friday or the weekend.
The low may increase storm activity about the Cocos (Keeling) Islands from Friday onwards.
